Project Description

Aluminium is the most widespread metal in the earth´s crust and it is surprising that it was
discovered at the beginning of the 19 th century. In 1855 this metal was so rare that a piece of
aluminium was exhibited at The World Exhibition in Paris as rarity. It caused the admiration of the
exhibition visitors due to silvery shine, but also due to the price – it was more expensive than gold.
French king Napoleon II at a solemn banquet used the utensils made of the most expensive
metal, aluminium, while his guests were served with less valuable utensils made of silver and gold.
